Oklahoma City Junior Bassmasters

 (Adopted February 2010)

ARTICLE 1 - Name and Purpose

Section 1:  Name

 

This Club is the OKC Junior Bassmasters No. 8833500

 

Section 2:  Purpose

 

The purpose of our Junior Bassmaster club is to promote and encourage youth fishing through education of fishing ethics, sportsmanship, fishing techniques, and conservation of our natural resources. To fulfill all responsibilities we owe to our community, our state, and our society to help maintain natural fishing resources.

 

ARTICLE 2 Membership

 

Section 1:  Number of Members

 

This Club shall maintain at least six members.

 

Section 2:  Requirements for Membership

 

To become a Club member, a person shall:

 

a.  Express an interest in membership.

      b.  Attend a regular monthly meeting and be recommended by a member.

      c.  Fish one tournament as a guest.

      d.  Be voted on by membership. Vote by show of hands with unanimous affirmation.

      e.  Waive the right to bring suit against the Club, its member(s), or B.A.S.S.

      f.  Must be at least 11 years old but no older than 18 years of age as of the date of the State Championship tournament (on or about May 1st).

 

Section 3:  Membership Dues

 

a. The dues shall be $15.00 per member for Club plus BASS Federation Nation each year.  This entitles each member to a subscription to BASS Times and a Club cap.

 

Section 4:  Meetings of Members

 

a.  The Club shall hold regular meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm at a location to be determined. Meetings shall be conducted pursuant to Robert's Rules of Order and shall contain the following at a minimum: President's Report, Treasurer's Report, presentation of Minutes of previous meeting.

 

b.  Proposed changes to Tournament Rules shall be voted on by the membership. A simple majority is required for passage of changes.  Rules may be changed at the beginning of the year only unless required to be in compliance with rules of the Junior Bassmaster World Championship.

 

ARTICLE 3 - Officers, Elections, Vacancies, and Eligibility

 

Section 1:  Officers and their Duties

 

a.  President: Runs all meetings and conduct all business with guidance from the adult sponsor.

 

b.  Vice President/Tournament Director: Runs meetings if the President is not present and assists President in any way possible.  Plans and conducts tournaments.

 

c.  Secretary: Takes minutes of all meetings and takes care of all correspondence and mail.  Assists the Adult Advisor in maintaining club records and roster.  Assists the VP with Club tournaments. 

 

Section 2:  Elections

 

The elections of officers shall be held annually. Elections shall be by majority of members present. Elections for each officer shall be held separately in order listed in ARTICLE 3 (1). Each member is entitled to one vote, proxy votes are not permitted.

 

Section 3:  Eligibility of Vote

 

Each member is entitled to one (1) vote. Proxy votes are not permitted.

 

Section 4:  Term of Office

 

The term of office is for one year, which shall begin when elected, and ends with the next year’s election.

 

Section 5:  Vacancies

 

In the event an office becomes vacant, an election shall take place to fill the position until the end of the term.  BASS must be notified of the change in officers.

 

Section 6:  Eligibility for Holding Office

 

To be eligible for an office, a member must:

 

a. have been a member for six months.

b. have attended 50% of all Club activities.

c. have paid Club dues.

 

ARTICLE 4 - Removal of Membership

 

Section 1: Causes for Removal

 

A member shall be dropped from the Club for the following reasons:

 

a. failure to pay dues.

b. failure to participate in 50% of Club activities.

c. any action that would dishonor and/or disgrace the Club or BASS.

 

ARTICLE 5 - Disciplinary Actions Other Than Removal of Membership

 

These actions shall be recommended by the Club officers and shall include, but is not limited to, reduction of membership in lieu of removal, or any other action felt necessary by the Club officers. Any action recommended by the Club officers and not specifically spelled out in the bylaws or tournament rules shall require a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Club officers.

 

ARTICLE 6 - Affiliation

 

Section 1: Requirements for Affiliation

 

a.  Approval of Junior Club by BASS and the BASS Federation Nation.

b.  Submit updated roster to BASS annually before December 31st.

c.  Name, address, and dues of new members must be sent to BASS as they join.

d.  Must affiliate with State Federation and support its conservation programs.

 

ARTICLE 7 - Method of Amending the Bylaws

 

Section 1:  Amending the Bylaws

 

The bylaws may be amended at any regular meeting by a majority of the members present. Members must be notified of the amendment one month in advance prior to voting on it.
